I believe that we learn by practice and practice means to  perform, over and over again in the face of all obstacles, some act of vision, of faith, of desire.

                                                          —Martha Graham

Expressing yourself with art… whatever your experiences have been, you put them to use. There is a transformative process, a healing process, and by creating a piece of art you heal yourself, and then you heal others because they recognize themselves in the stories you tell. That’s the beauty of it. That’s why we go to the theater, because it’s such a transcendental experience. That’s why we go see movies, that’s shy we love art. The symbols are there. And we respond to symbol and myth. This is the way we tell stories, this is the way we move forward in life.       —Hélène

A graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, Hélène also trained with Ellen Burstyn, Sandra Seacat, Sondra Lee, Susan Batson, Margie Haber, and Penny Allen.

She performed at the Players Club, The Actors’ Studio, and with The Naked Angels and Ubu Repertory Theater in New York.

She played Fuffi in Lasse Hallström’s Chocolat, Candy in Lawrence Kasdan’s Mumford, the French Food Critic in The Hundred-Foot Journey, a BBC Reporter in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and World War Z, and the French Announcer in Jurassic World.

She is the Computer Voice in the TV series Heroes Reborn and her many voice characters include Happy Feet 2 and Muppets Most Wanted. For Serendipity, she co-wrote with Peter Chelsom & Alan Silvestri the song Lucienne, which she also sang.

Hélène speaks six languages. Her eight producing credits include the award-winning documentary Femme.

Whether writing, dancing, or acting, I find myself in an exalted state of concentration and consciousness, like a meditation or trance. It’s as if time stops or expands and I’m able to touch other worlds and keep a sense of connection with what is bigger than me.

The essential nourishment for the actor is him/herself. That finally seems to me to be the work of every artist: to be a deep-sea diver into the human soul.

TRUTH — Hélène Cardona & Robert Redford

What is it then that inexorably tips the scales in favor of the extraordinary? It is what is commonly called vocation: an irrational factor that destins a person to emancipate himself from the herd and from its well-known paths.
