Whether writing, dancing, or acting, I find myself in an exalted state of concentration and consciousness, like a meditation or trance. It’s as if time stops or expands and I’m able to touch other worlds and keep a sense of connection with what is bigger than me.
By expressing yourself with art, you put your experiences to use. It’s a transformative process. By creating a piece of art you heal yourself, and you heal others because they recognize themselves in the stories you tell. That’s the beauty of it. That’s why we go to the theater and the movies, because it’s such a transcendental experience. That’s why we love art. The symbols are there. We respond to symbol and myth. This is how we tell stories and move forward in life.
A graduate of the AADA in NYC, Hélène recurs as Monique in Season 2 of Upload on Amazon Prime, and stars as Arlette Linstrom in the feature Caralique, for which she won Best Actress at the Idyllwild Film Festival, the Vanguard Award for Cinematic Achievement at the Scotland International Festival of Cinema, and Best Acting Awards at the Lady Filmmakers and Beyond the Curve International Film Festivals.
She played Fuffi in Lasse Hallström’s Chocolat, the French Food Critic in The Hundred-Foot Journey, the French Engineer in Star Trek Discovery, the French Newscaster in The Romanoffs, BBC Reporters in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and World War Z, Candy in Lawrence Kasdan’s Mumford, Mrs. Russell in Stealing Roses, and the French Announcer in Jurassic World, among many.
She is the Computer Voice in the series Heroes Reborn and her many voice characters include the Cerebro in X-Men: Apocalypse, Happy Feet 2 and Muppets Most Wanted.
For Serendipity, she co-wrote with Peter Chelsom & Alan Silvestri the song Lucienne, which she also sang. She co-wrote the screenplay Primate with John FitzGerald, based on his novel.
TV guest roles include Law & Order, Passions, The Bold and the Beautiful, One Life to Live, The New Adventures of Robin Rood, Another World, and many others.
She performed at the Players Club, The Actors Studio, and with The Naked Angels and Ubu Repertory Theater in New York.
Sydney Pollack based the Nicole Kidman character in The Interpreter in part on Hélène‘s life by making her a Sorbonne linguist and a musician.
Hélène graduated with the 2nd prize in piano from the Music Conservatory in Geneva, Switzerland, and studied under Maître Pierre Sancan at the Salle Pleyel in Paris. She also trained as a dancer at the Music Conservatory in Geneva and Salle Pleyel, and performed in Vera Krylova’s Dance Company at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
She trained with Ellen Burstyn, Sandra Seacat, Susan Batson, Margie Haber, Annie Grindlay, Penny Allen, Cynthia Songé, Melissa Skoff, Larry Moss, and Tim Crouch at the Odyssey Theater.
She speaks six languages. Her ten producing credits include the award-winning documentary Femme. She also works as a language coach for the film and music industry.
Hélène is a citizen on the United States, France, and Spain.
